Anyway, she was aware of MissusSingapore.com and thought that her relatively new exercise regime might appeal to my readers. Okay, some history first.
Nora has been in dance all her life. Hailing from the mid-US, she moved to the region to help open and run several dance schools. Eventually, she landed in Singapore where I met her sometime in 2002.
So from running dance studios, taking part and winning several dance competitions, she went into dance fitness. Essentially, dance is her life and she has been doing it since she was four.
About six months ago, she found that many women who attended her private classes, had enormous body-image issues and were shy to look at themselves in the mirror as they danced. So, like my attempts to help women in my own way, she decided to try something new.
She got the women to shed their clothes for a few sessions. Obviously, only a handful were open to the idea then but recently, she had 14 women (6 locals and the rest from around the world) in her nude dance class. (They were allowed to wear shorts if they were uncomfortable though.)
I recently attended one of their private sessions and I must say, it was quite liberating. It took some getting used to but after a while, it was so natural and comfortable. None of us were in the 'perfect' shape but it didn't matter. It was quite motivating to be honest. Looking at the parts you want to carve and mindfully doing something to target them.
In case you are wondering, the work-out was a killer. No fun and games here but I have my reservations about whether it will take off on a big scale. For now, I am looking forward to speak with two of the women in Nora's class.
Missus Singapore out!
